Kingdom Hearts - Costa del Sora
|
Artist's Comments: Who would have thought I'd actually send something in for this audition? ;) Nonetheless, what I ended up doing was providing a smooth midnight-at-the-oasis-style variation on the Destiny Islands theme from Kingdom Hearts. This is arranged for three percussionists (drum kit, tamborine, bongos), two alternate leads (tenor sax, recorder), bass, marimba and e piano, so I can say it has adapted well to the small band requirement. Special thanks go to Kevin "Lorenzo" Sisk at OverClocked Remix for rendering my MIDI project into MP3 format.

Kingdom Hearts - A Hearts Resolve
|
Artist's Comments: Traverse Town's theme has always stuck in my head ever since I first played Kingdom Hearts. It's catchy, peaceful, and you spend a LOT of time in the town just trying to figure out what the heck to do at first! The original is very peaceful, ballad-like and waltzy as well. I've taken that peaceful theme and turned it into a rockin' battle theme. Mixing this was a pain in the butt, and I had to actually take out some tracks in the long run because they were fighting too much with the other tracks around them. A wise, wise man once told me, "The best tracks in a song are often the muted ones."

RETRO - Splendid Performance Submission

> Without music, life is a journey through a desert - Pat Conroy

I have resurfaced from the deep pit of schoolwork and Kingdom Hearts 2 to bring you this update. It was a difficult thing to do, ripping myself away from the Playstation to get this done, but I have managed to do it. I know that my resolve won't last. So let me get right down to business.
Well, actually, there isn't a lot of usual business to get back to. Seems that once again my mailbox is bereft of any submissions. So, in the spirit of Kingdom Hearts, I have decided to feature two Kingdom Hearts remixes for your aural pleasure. Both of these were found in last years Splendid Performance competition: the first being a round 2 submission from the overall contest winner Rexy and the second being a final round entry from runner up Darangen. If you haven't heard these tunes, make sure to give them a download, and if you have, you know you want to listen again.
That about does it for this week. Hopefully next week, I will be back with some new original music. If I manage to finish up the game and get to back to working on music, I can assure you that there will be something Hearts-themed coming from me. I encourage submissions of any sort, be they remixes, ring tones or reviews.
