Final Fantasy VIII - Fields of Beryl
Artist's Comments:A bit perturbed by the lack of entrants for this contest round, I undertook the task of breaking out of my 'classic' style.  Although I have some background performing (and studying to a lesser extent) classic jazz-style music, arranging game music in this style was very new to me, presenting all sorts of challenges that one doesn't encounter with an orchestral or piano arrangement. I composed the lead sheet for 'Fields of Beryl' in about a half hour, then spent almost two days recording and editing the one useable take of about a dozen others for each part.  It's not the most refined piece I've arranged, but I think the sound is appropriate for an amateur jazz performance.  This arrangement is performed with a tenor sax/piano/stand-up bass combo.

Lufia - The First War
Artist's Comments:This song is a remix of various Lufia I and II themes by Yukio Nakajima. Iıve used pieces from Memories of the last war and Guard from Lufia I, and battle 3 from Lufia II. You'll probably here some other theme's as well. That's because a lot of Lufia songs sound alike. You'll hear 8 different instruments in total, that's the maximum allowed number for this round. The song's called the first war (it's just a name). The guitars sound rather dirty I think, but hopefully you'll like them.

Im going to keep my remarks to a minimum this week because I know you are all here for the results of round two of Spelendid Perforamance. But before that, let me at least introduce this week's remixes.

Our first entry is from former sound test curator Patrick Water. Pat brings us a very soothing jazz arangement from Final Fantasy VIII. A bold step outside his normal classical styling, and a excellent step at that. Our second mix come foru Sour Jovis, who you may also remember from last round. Bringing us a Lufia mix, I have to say I really enjoy this piece and feel that his is a great growth over is last piece. Great job and keep up the awesome submissions.

Ok, guess thats all for this week.

Hehe, just kidding. I'm not leaving you without a link to the contest results. Excellent job to all who entered. I look forward to seeing you in future rounds. And with that, I bid you all a farewell and goodnight. Or good morning if your nocturnal like me.
