Welcome to another week of the Saving Throw. Things were more interesting in the contest this last week given that there were some correct answers this time around and our first casting of a spell. Things will likely get even more interesting this week, though, as most of the participants now have enough MP to cast some combat spells. This... gives me an unpleasant sense of dread, as being in the number one position, I... think I know who the likely target is.
But alas, that's for next week. Naturally, the contest is not the only thing happening at the Saving Throw. The badge system mentioned last week is now in place, though it turns out only three badges were awarded so far. Macstorm and Carabbit both have enough published submissions to earn a copper badge, and even with all of the entries I've made for the Saving Throw, I'm still only at mythril level. A number of you are right on the edge of earning your copper badges, though, so send something in!
Now, with the introduction out of the way, the meat of the column awaits you below.
Gaming Tip of the Week
"It's usually a bad idea to wing everything when gamemastering, especially the rules."
Inexperience is also a leading cause of poor gamemastering, though experience doesn't necessarily cure that either, especially when it comes to choosing an adversary of appropriate strength.
