The Saving Throw
Competitive Spellcasting Oct. 4, 2006
Hey, if we could cast spells in the real world, you know it'd be an Olympic event.

And so it begins. . .

Welcome to the first Saving Throw of October, where the second hall of fame contest is upgraded with spellcasting! Yes, all current participants now have 2 MP and there are some spells available. The condition for victory has also changed with the coming of the Victory spell. The rules have also been modified for these new spells. I feel kinda safe this week, but I suspect next week I'll be the target of some unfriendly magic...

Also, the Saving Throw will soon be getting a badge system for those of you who have submitted frequently. This system will give you higher recognition for your efforts to preserve my sanity by giving me something to publish. Oh, and to entertain the readers as well, for that's important too. Hopefully, I'll have the badges in place by next week; I need to count the entries yet to see who gets what.

Aside from that new business, we have one entry by Macstorm for the contest this week. Be sure to make your guess and possibly cast a spell or two. Now, it's time for the meat of the column...

The Circling Muse by Macstorm New this week
It usually doesn't take long for characters to realize that they are in over their head, but usually the gamemaster has some unusual way out of the situation.

And so it ends. . .

Well, in my opinion, a long intro calls for a short outro, so be sure to check out the contest. Good luck and I'm outta here!
