Welcome to another all-me week here at the Saving Throw. Since I've started working on creating a news archive for the Saving Throw, I again only wrote up one submission. This time, I tell you how the Foul Wind became the Wyvern's Bane.
There weren't quite so many releases to cover this week, giving me a bit of a break there as well. Overall, this was a bit of a light week, aside from the extra work of building a new archive. At any rate, please send something in to save us all from yet another all-me week; this column is so much better with variety.
With the request for submissions over, it's time for the column!
Gaming Tip of the Week
"Playing a specialist wizard, especially an enchanter, can be difficult; it is best left to creative players."
It can be difficult to find a way to make an enchantress useful in a fight, especially against wyverns. With a little creativity and some help, though, one can find a way.
Wizards of the Coast has decided to release nearly the entire library of Dungeons and Dragons, 3.5 Edition books on DriveThruRPG.com based on the response to eBooks tests run there over the last year. This includes over 90 titles from the popular game; however, the three core rulebooks are not yet being offered in eBook format. The titles are also being sold at the full price for the print titles. As of this writing, there were eleven products currently available with releases scheduled to continue at the rate of one per weekday. A complete listing can be found here.
Ultimate Fighting System Becomes Fifth Top-selling Trading Card Game
Ultimate Fighting System, a collectible card game from Sabertooth Games based on video games like Street Fighter and Soul Caliber 3, has become the fifth top-selling game according to the summer issue of the ICv2 Retailer Guide. This is a significant and impressive accomplishment given that the game was released on April 15, just a little over two months ago. Organized play has seen an equally impressive start with over 600 tournaments scheduled in North America since release.
Samurai Showdown V and The King of Fighters 2006 are scheduled to be added to the game this winter.
And so it ends. . .
Well, that's it for this week. I have no news on the contest yet; unfortunately, it's still a waiting game on this. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though. I'm hoping to get it started soon.
Until next week, then. Until then, may all your enemies' saving throws fail!
