Have you ever rolled a critical hit at the worst possible time?

And so it begins. . .

The Saving Throw rolls around again for another light week in the tabletop gaming world. There were no submissions this week, and so a story of disaster from SamuraiMarmoset was chosen for the featured story this week. It's also appropriate, as the game is a story from a Palladium product, and we have some possibly bad news for Palladium fans this week.

Otherwise, there were a fair number of products released, and that's about it for this slow week. With that, it's time to let this short column speak for itself.

Volunteers Needed for Palladium's Possibly Last Open House
Source: Palladium Books

Palladium Books is in need of gamemasters and general volunteers for its upcoming open house to be held at its headquarters in Taylor, Michigan from May 4th through the 6th. The company is requesting game information from gamemasters as soon as possible so that these events can be posted on the schedule. They are looking for gamemasters to run events for all of their game lines.

Palladium has also announced a 75 percent likelihood that the company will be moving to a smaller facility when the company's lease expires in April or May 2008. Such a move would very likely signal the end of Palladium's open houses as they would no longer have the room for such events, but the company may be forced to move due to the high costs of their current facility. This is surely a disappointment for Palladium fans, but while this move is likely, there is no guarantee that Palladium will be unable to host future open house events.

And so it ends. . .

Assuming everything goes well, the next column will be written mostly by your future Saving Throw curator, Bartleby. He had other obligations that prevented him from contributing this week, but I have little doubt that he'll have a chance to get his feet even wetter next week. I'll still be around in the background for quite a while, though, so this is far from a goodbye. So, until next week...
