We're introduced to the abomination that is the "Mother", called J-E-N-O-V-A. And this unexpected meeting turns into the first battle theme of the soundtrack. Cloud and the gang fight for their survival, the burdensome weight of all that's to come crashing down on them.

With this piece, I'd heard so many different versions of it remixed that I wanted to try something completely new. For the entire buildup of the song, I'm fighting against the original with a nearly unrecognizable discharge of noise. Then, when you've had just about enough, I stab the ears with that all-too-familiar synth that is the backbone of Jenova's fight. It ends abruptly, leading into a welcomed calm after the devastating storm.

Okay, so nothing important happened to me this past week. I got some papers for my licensure examinations and I think I'll apply sometime next week. Oh, I finished a couple of mixes for Sound Test, but it may be a while before they get rendered because Kouen is studying for the exams as well.

Now, let's go to our very funky mix for today. Calamity from the Skies is a very modern take on J-E-N-O-V-A. It takes almost half a minute before the familiar descending Bbmaj7 arpeggio appears, but the moment it does, you are immediately reminded of that time when you fought one pink and angry mama-from-a-meteor. Though not exactly very fast in terms of tempo, it, nonetheless, holds a certain energy that almost bids you to tap your feet at the very least. Download it now!

I have to go and study now, folks. Until next time. Have a safe weekeend! Oh, and have a great Fourth of July!
