Daryl's featured submission today is the first of three battle tracks that form the finale of VII. As he said, the opening of the mix is an unrecognizable drone—a deep and synthetic gurgle that elbows in a sense of dread that is certainly appropriate for that moment when you face the angry mama-form-a-meteor for the last time. I have to admit, though, that the segment feels a bit drawn out as it lasts for a full minute. The familiar motif appears on the strings, then, a bit slow at first, slowly but surely picking up speed. The rhythm establishes itself soon after. The piece mutates as it goes on, the synths and sound samples shifting almost uncomfortably as it does, particularly near the end. Not only is it a fitting representation for the monstrosity to which the original theme is associated, it is also effective in keeping the remix interesting as the motif itself is intensely repetitive. It's almost time for the son to take center stage... Just two more pieces to go before we say goodbye to VII, folks. Until next update! Have a great weekend, guys!
