Concerto for Solo Violin, Strings, and Harpsichord with Basso Continuo in F-sharp minor (Krebs) - III. Allegretto
Francis "Fermat's Last Theorem" Gayon Parasite Eve | Main Theme
Author's Comments

...or simply "Krebs Concerto," if you find that voluminous title too tiring to recite. This piece was actually started earlier than the Windurst Waltz, but ended up getting finished later since I got "composer's block" in this movement. I got stuck in the first solo segment.

Like in the first movement, the tutti opens with the main theme of the original piece (or at least a part of it) as the ritornello. I employed a time signature change again, this time from 3/4 to 2/4, but the theme is still quite recognizable. I took fragments from the original piece and used them at the beginning of the solo sections.

This mix may not be for everyone since it's in a quasi-Baroque style—like something straight out of Vivaldi's repertoire, but I still hope that you'll give it a try.

Composed using Sibelius 4 and rendered by Kouen using SONAR 6 Producer Edition. The GPO samples for a Stradivarius used for the solo violin are quite lovely, no?

Hmm, I'm updating early for a change. The world as we know it must be ending. Kidding aside, I just found the time to update, and that's that. I might not have the time tomorrow when I'm at the ER.

Anyway, here it is: the third and final movement of the Krebs Concerto! Some may find the melody to be a bit high frequency-wise but it's because I had to shift the key from C minor to F-sharp minor so that the first and the third movements have the same key. It's usually the case in most concerti I know. I hope you like it, folks!

On another note, some have replied to my query about the title of this piece. Jay Vee Choong was the first to reply and was correct. Congratulations for recalling your biochemistry! Krebs cycle or the citric acid cycle is the aerobic phase of cellular respiration and takes place in a certain organelle. Which one? You guessed it: the mitochondria—that which plays a central role in the Parasite Eve games. As for the cookies, here you go. My personal favorite, though I usually add some mashed bananas to my dough when I make mine. ^^

Me and my groupmates have been having the time of our lives here in Orthopedics. It's such a benign rotation and the residents are really nice. I have one last duty in the ER this Saturday. I certainly hope I don't pay for all the bumming around I did during the rotation and get a dozen consults and a dozen referrals.

Well, I'm off. Take care and have a nice weekend, everyone!
