World of Warcraft

Love or hate MMORPGs, they are huge and one game having over eleven million subscribers is nothing to balk at. World of Warcraft and its subsequent expansions have been consuming the lives of RPGamers worldwide for over half of the decade. With another expansion on the way in 2010, WoW shows no signs of stopping. But what is it about this game that makes it so addictive?

The key to Blizzard's success with World of Warcraft cannot be pinned to one specific thing. The game is very friendly to casual players, but offers a huge variety of hardcore content. Blizzard's attention to detail within the world has had players exploring just to experience every little detail. Built on the lore of the three prior Warcraft games, there is a lot of content to work with. But the biggest thing that has contributed to WoW's perfect storm of success is the players. Lots of massively multiplayer RPGs have come before and tons have tried to follow, but none have had the staying power and commercial success that WoW boasts. Blizzard's continued updates have helped to perfect the game's accessibility to players all across the board.

Whether playing every day of the week or just a couple hours at a time, WoW offers something for everyone. Players can raid huge dungeons with large groups or explore the vast landscape all by their lonesome. Blizzard has the magic MMORPG touch and it has netted the company nothing but gold since the game's release. No other RPG has drawn in kids and parents alike, so in the words of Mr. T, "What's your game?"
