Welcome to MMORPGamer.

Spring Break is just a day away, and this columnist couldn't be happier. This week has been so stressful that I can't wait to be rid of it.

News was sparing this week, but there are a few diamonds glittering past the rough. Here they are:

  Star Trek Online Site Reappears

It's been two months since we received any information on the doomed Star Trek Online. Last I'd heard, the game was in limbo between developers.

Star Trek fans can rejoice once more. Though no official announcement has been made by any developers, the official site is back up with a fresh image and the words "Coming Soon."

I didn't think that we'd hear much about Star Trek Online for at least half a year, but here it is. STO is back. I'll have more updates as they're available.

  Stefen Colbear Vanishes

World of Warcraft

The official word on Stefen Colbear is in. This card, with art created by fantasy artist Todd Lockwood, was meant to be included in the World of Warcraft TCG newest expansion.

The art leaked onto the internet to the delight of Digg.com users. The image spread like brushfire until Upper Deck could do nothing but let it burn out.

After the celebration of the card died down, Lockwood revealed that Stephen Colbert's reps decided their client would not appear in the TCG. Stephen Colbert wasn't shown the card and happens to be a WoW enthusiast. There's no telling what he would have said after seeing the card. It's one of the best likenesses of the character I've seen, and the quotation at the bottom is the best: "He's putting the Horde on notice."

  Age of Conan's Requirements Revealed

Age of Conan

Finally, Funcom has released the details on exactly what you'll need to play Age of Conan. The details are as follows:

Required:

  • OS: Windows Vista/XP
  • Processor: 3GHz Pentium IV
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Video Card: Shader Model 2.0 and 128MB RAM: NVIDIA GeForce 5800 or ATI 9800

    Recommended:

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz (E6600) or better
  • Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7950GX2 or better
  • Ram: 2GB or more

Enhanced for: DirectX 10, 64-bit processors, multi-core. This isn't a surprise from a marketing standpoint. The specs don't look daunting and they shouldn't. The most popular of MMOs don't try to limit users with insane expensive requirements. I'm so glad to see I won't need Vista to run this, as I'm sure most readers will be, too.

  •   Issue 12 Unveiled

    City of Heroes

NCSoft has announced the release of Issue 12 for City of Heroes. The new issue will feature a ton of improvements on gameplay as well as some new content for heroes and villains.

Starting at level 10, heroes will be able to join the Midnight Squad. With content stretching all the way to level 50, players will traverse Roman-style maps and don new costume pieces. The new organization may hold secrets from other moments in time with their Ouroboros crystal, allowing players to discover secrets that reveal the secret of their powers and origins.

After reaching level 50, villains have two new epic archetypes to choose from: the Wolf Spider and the Blood Widow. Each of these branches off to two other types, allowing players to further customize their characters. These choices will also affect the duties required of each member of the Arachnos.

This issue will see a lot of gameplay improvements, including the redesign of the Hollows zone to make it "more fun." Everything's been rebalanced and tweaked. Also, players can enjoy new customization to their UIs with eight new power trays, more real numbers on screen, and the ability to convert inspirations to different types as desired.

The entirety of the changes are available at the official site. To save space, I mentioned all that I could, but there is a ton more for any heroes and villains who need to read more of the improvements.

This issue looks amazing compared to some of the past ones. They've always had great content and changes, but this issue will affect every player in a big way.

      O RLY? YA RLY!
    Legends of... What?

    EverQuest

The popular EverQuest CCG, Legends of Norrath, featured an announcement that made more than a few players question just what game they were playing. A screenshot from the game shows the odd game text. It's a hilarious slip: "The bards and troubadors of Azeroth will sing your praises for years to come!"

    Issue 12 Screens

Included in the announcement was a heavy helping of the following screenshots from the upcoming issue. Pictured are the new zones, costumes, and archetypes in City of Heroes.

When next time we meet, I'll be happily relaxing on my heavily awaited vacation. If you get the advantage of a break, make sure you travel safely and relax as much as possible. If you don't, at least enjoy the spring as it starts to wind its way around the corner.

    Until next week,
