Come One, Come All March 29, 2005

Front Page

Hello and welcome to RPGamer's grand opening of Currents. I'm Elliot and I'll be your host for the foreseeable future. Currents is RPGamer's latest forward step in broadening its horizons and bringing you as many angles of video game and RPG news as there are. Basically, think of this column as a source of business and industry-related news. For example, if you want information on when X RPG is coming out, check out the index and news pages. If you want, however, to know who the makers of X RPG are getting sued by, how their stock prices are fairing, or what they're next industry move will be, check your weekly Currents.

But wait, there's more! The fun doesn't stop there. Once a month, included with the usual column will be a feature, called Close-Up, that will highlight a person or company of the video game industry, or any sort of in-depth look at a particular aspect of the industry. The options are limitless, and best of all, I want you to decide what each month's feature will be about. Just write to me at, listing something you want to know more about. I'll then choose five topics from the ones I received and set up a poll in the forums where you can vote for your favorite choice. Since this column is still in its infancy, I'd like to stick with the theme of "people of the industry" for the time being.

One last thing I'd like to say before I cut you loose to devour the column is please send me your opinions. I mean it. This column is for you, your benefit, and your enjoyment. If you're not totally satisfied, please let me know what I can do to make it better. The column is only just starting out, so expect some minor changes here and there until it find its little niche on the site. So until then, this column is yours to shape. All you have to do is send me an e-mail.

Now, without further ado, I present to you RPGamer's Currents.

News Column

This week's news articles are all over the place. From lawsuits to console shortages, with company buy-outs and gamers standing up for their rights, you shouldn't have any trouble finding something to whet your appetite.
