Valkyria: Azure Revolution

Sega recently revealed more information and media for its upcoming release in Japan of Valkyria: Azure Revolution. This batch of details and images focuses on the four main commanders of the opposing Rus Empire, and the animal-inspired combat machines they pilot.

The first commander is Gilouche Benckendorff, who acts as both the head of the army and the Minister of War. He is the foster brother of Emperor Claudius and has been a loyal subordinate since Claudius became crown prince. The second commander is Viktor Timashev, who in addition to his military role is the Minister of Home Affairs. He is primarily responsible for the Rus Empire's expansion strategy and views anyone who isn't the Emperor as expendable.

Gustav Mecklenburg is the third commander and he heads the Rus Empire's recently-formed navy. He is responsible for securing the Empire control over the seas, though has a desire to return to the regular army. The fourth and final commander revealed is Balthus Greppenberg. He is the youngest of the four and also serves as the Minister for Foreign Affairs. He is skilled at diplomacy and has been put in charge of expanding the empire to the south.

Each of the commanders has their own prototype Magic Machine. These heavy mechanised combat units were created by the Rus Empire, which was late to join the industrialised nations but it has made incredible strides thanks to the knowledge and resource gained from invaded nations. The machines were all designed based on living beings, which were used as labour in the game's world since ancient times. Gilouche's machine, the Guardian, looks like a knight and focuses on defense. Victor's machine, the Snake, looks like it has heads at both ends and prioritises stealth and speed. Gustav's machine, the Whale, also works as an airship and is designed to transport large numbers of forces. Finally, Balthus' machine, the Dragon, is focused primarily on attack.
