Update (11.20) - The game's debut trailer and further screenshots are now available. These can be found at the bottom of this story.
Sega announced a new title in its Valkyria Chronicles series. Titled Valkyria: Azure Revolution, the game will be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan at some point in 2016. In addition to this new game, the publisher also announced the first Valkyria Chronicles game will receive a HD remaster for PlayStation 4. The remaster will be released in Japan on February 10, 2016, and will include a demo for Azure Revolution.
Valkyria: Azure Revolution marks a fresh start for the series, taking place in a separate world to the original trilogy. Azure Revolution's world features the Rus Empire, which expanded quickly after discovering the blue mineral Ragnite and using it to achieve rapid industrial growth. The game takes place in the small, neighboring country of Jutland, which aims to strike back against the Rus Empire in the name of independence.
Three characters have been announced so far, each present in the game's first screenshots, shown below. Amleth is the main protagonist and leader of Jutland's Anti-Valkyria Unit and is seen beside Ophelia, a princess of Jutland. They are seen facing off against Brynhildr, a Valkyria from the Rus Empire.
The game features a similar graphical style to its predecessors, using the "Gouache" engine to give it a distinct painted style. Azure Revolution will feature a different battle system, however. The new "LeGION" system is said to be real-time, featuring some simulation elements, with multiple party members seen attacking at the same time. The game is being created by Media.Vision, which recently developed Valkyria Chronicles III, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, and the Chaos Rings series.
