Following its announcement a little over a month ago, King ART Games has launched the Kickstarter campaign for The Dwarves. The developer is looking for $260,000 in pledges by October 8, 2015, with pledges of $25 (around £16/€22) or over earning a digital copy of the game for PC as a backer reward. The game is planned for a mid-2016 release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The Dwarves is a fantasy RPG based on the Markus Heitz novel of the same name. The game stars Tungdil, a dwarf who was raised by humans and only knows of the five Dwarven Kingdoms through literature. The Dwarves follows Tungdil's journey across the collection of kingdoms known as Girdlegard. Markus Heitz has been present in development of the game, writing a few side stories and quests himself. Girdlegard is home to a number of distinct races in addition to its dwarven tribes, including humans, elves, magi, orcs, bögnils, ogres, and älfar.

The strategic battle system in The Dwarves pits its heroes against large numbers of enemies, making heavy use of crowd-control and physics. Players can make use of the battlefield to assit them, such as by knocking enemies off ledges. The game features a strategic world map with a few hundred waypoints, showing how allied and enemy armies move around the world along with various NPCs. Meeting allies or merchants can result in a quest with a number of random events and encounters, some of which include decisions that have an impact on the world.
