Blzzard Entertainment has announced the unification of its two main PC development offices, Blizzard North, developer of the Diablo series and Blizzard South, developer of the Starcraft and Warcraft series. Blizzard will reside in the Blizzard South office, which is located in Irvine, in Southern California. The Blizzard North office was located in located in San Mateo, California, just South of San Francisco. Blizzard also announced that "a majority of the staff from Blizzard's Northern California office" will be given a chance to relocate to the Irvine office to continue work on an as-of-yet unannounced title.
"We're looking forward to having our PC development teams together in Irvine," said Mike Morhaime, Blizzard president and co-founder. "In addition to improving our efficiency as a company, the relocation also represents an opportunity for all of our teams to have regular, direct input on each other's projects."
Blizzard North just completed work on and released the version 1.11 patch for its Diablo II title which originally released in 2000. Blizzard's other development office, the recently-aquired Swingin' Ape Studios which was renamed Blizzard Console, will continue work on the stealth, action title, Starcraft Ghost.
