Suikoden III Details Emerge in an Unlikely Place
Suikoden III

Good news seems to come from the strangest places. In a recent press release from Konami of Japan announcing their new commemorative bonds, a few tidbits of information surfaced concerning Suikoden III.

Suikoden III will take advantage of the PlayStation 2 hardware by making the jump to completely 3D graphics; although no concrete details were announced, Konami has stated that the game will sport a new battle system to take advantage of the improved visuals. Minor details related to the game's story have also come to light. Sporting three main characters seperated by age, background, and personality, gamers will experience the adventures of Suikoden III from three very different perspectives. It appears Konami hopes to give players the feeling of three complementary games, similar to Sega's approach with the classic Shining Force III and its add-on scenarios. Due to the increased size and scope of the title, Konami plans to release it on DVD-ROM.

Suikoden III is scheduled to be released in Japan for the PS2 in December, with currently no word on a North American release. Investors interested in the commemorative bonds should also take note: purchasing either the Suikoden III or Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty bond entitles the owner to a free copy of the game upon release, which isn't a bad deal at all.
