Nintendo held a short Pokémon-specific Nintendo Direct Presentation today, during which it announced the next pair of mainline titles in the series. Like the previous iteration, Pokémon X / Y, Pokémon Sun / Moon is exclusive to Nintendo 3DS, with its worldwide release planned for sometime towards the end of 2016.
There were no further details about Sun / Moon itself, but Nintendo did reveal that the 3DS Virtual Console versions of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will be compatible with the Pokémon Bank, which lets players store Pokémon online and transfer them to other compatible games in the series. These Pokémon will then be transferable to Sun / Moon when it releases.
