Due to the continuing earthquakes in Japan, Square Enix is shutting down the servers temporarily for Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV to conserve power.
For at least a week, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XIV, and PlayOnline will be unavailable starting March 13 at 2 a.m. PST. Players will not be charged for the April billing cycle. For users who want to follow the status of the Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV game servers check the official site for more information. It is unknown if the world server merges and major update will be performed while the servers are down.
Those who want to help can go to Red Cross and donate to Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami. People can also text REDCROSS to 90999 to make a $10 donation to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific.
