Square Enix has revealed the release date for the first of three Final Fantasy XI downloadable mini-expansions announced back in November. In the expansion, A Crystalline Prophecy – Ode of Life Bestowing, a giant primordial crystal related to Vana'diel's past appears in the sky above Jeuno that causes unexplained happenings across the land. Masato Kato, scenario and story writer for the original release of Final Fantasy XI and its first expansion, Rise of the Zilart, has returned to work on all three of the mini-expansions.
A Crystalline Prophecy - Ode of Life Bestowing will be available exclusively through the PlayOnline Viewer for $9.99 on March 23, 2009. However, players will not receive access to the new content until an upcoming version update in early April. A Moogle Kupo d’Etat - Evil in Small Doses, the second expansion, and A Shantotto Ascension - The Legend Torn, Her Empire Born, the third expansion, are expected later this year.
