Rexy

Remix

The structure stays very true to the source, so the link towards the basis behind the game is all there. When it came to the general execution some of the placements have managed to link well and provide a firm execution, although some of the melodic notations seem to be a bit too faint to be able to take in fully. I haven't heard many variations of the theme before, but it has managed to stand firm given its strong moods to match for that within the source. There didn't seem to be many variations on the actual theme itself, but there are a couple of solo elements that have helped to broaden upon the scope. And on top of that, generally the sections hold a good structure - even if the links behind them seem to be a bit too clean it has still worked in providing a solid flow throughout.

Creativity

There did seem to be some light improvisation in the middle when it came to breathing in some life towards the mix, but given the production setting it seemed to be a bit difficult to be able to absorb in itself; I can say the second creative stance at 1:41 was clearer than the first at 0:38 though. The general structuring of the sections was felt to be a bit on the obvious side, but at the same time it has still worked well in providing a clean transition throughout. Aside from the creative stances I can't see much to keep a fresh pace, although the energetic stances behind the source seemed to provide a false set of help for some of the target audience. But from what I saw it seemed to suffer from a fair amount of repetition given the use of the same chord structures all the way through, and even the final iteration of the theme at 1:10 could have been given some variance on the lines to help vary the whole thing. So after weighing everything up, it can be shown to be an enjoyable affair for the rock music fan but I'm not sure if it'll last long with others.

Production

I'm guessing that the only sampled instrument used in the whole thing - aside from the strings at the start - was the drums, because if they were the sample chosen for the occasion seems to be very good in concept; mind, even here it could have done with some further spacious emphasis to make them sound more realistic. There don't seem to be a lot of EQs provided in general, but much of it seems to have been made up for with some good thought to heavy sustain upon the guitar sounds and some delay upon the textures (which were more noted near the end of the arrangement). The general recording of the mixing elements seemed to be rather distant and unclear, and there also seemed to be a fair amount of hiss involved upon the background surrounding both ends of the file. I felt that the song's key problem had to be with the sound levels - it has the benefit of no clipping, however the track has relied too much upon the loudness of the backing guitars to heavily emphasize on a nature that can be too muddy for some. It did benefit from a good deal when it came to the guitar space among the lines, but again the drum space seemed to dampen on the realism behind the performance. Generally I feel this section was the one that let the track down the most, but given what he has provided in other segments he's got potential to improve in the future.

Remix

Very straightforward metal mix, although a lot of distorted guitar.

Creativity

Sweet licks in the second part, but too much distortion keeps it from being *really* sweet.

Production

WAY too much focus on the rhythm section--excessive percussion and/or distortion, sometimes out of tune.

Redbeastmage

Remix

You stick very close to the source material, branching from it only for guitar solos(sweet indeed). Would have liked to see a bit more done with this though, as it seems to use the original as a crutch for the solos to stand on.

Creativity

Sweet metal, my dearest friend, how I miss listening to thee. I have to say, I love this song. Its just tons of fun to listen to. The solos are so metal it almost hurts. The style really lends to the battle theme. I just wish you could have ended with some battle exit music, since you started with battle into music

Production

You lay the distortion on the guitar just a bit to thick. Also, the mixing needs love; drums need to get pushed back some, and compression needs to get laid on this. I mix a fair amount of rock/metal while I'm at school, so take it from me that post production is massively important in this style. Also, the song trails for 3 empty seconds of pops and clicks at the end. That is just not acceptable in the production world.
