Rexy

Remix

This piece is recognizable to the source right from the word go, even through the general atmospheric touches all around it. Generally the execution has worked well to provide a more chilling mood, so that can be seen as a strong point. Out of all the variations I've seen on the theme this is actually one of the better ones I have managed to come across, and even though there were some components that could have made it stand further out it has still worked its role here. The second portion of the source has been played around well to grant in a good sense of variance all around, and the ambience has also provided a good set of justice to the general feel in order to match with the scopes of the source. And the sections are shown to have a good structure, even though it isn't quite felt to be too different from the original as such; add to the fadeout for the ending and I see that as a light disappointment given the strong potential behind the other components.

Creativity

Ambience is shown to be one thing to provide a fair amount of life, but otherwise the general components of the theme seem to be a bit plain. The sections seem to link a little bit too fluently, but they have still provided a good sense of connection all around. There isn't really anything new at all to consider fresh in spite of its atmospheric focus, and bearing that in mind it also has some hindrance granted the amount of repetition placed upon it; that has been given some light damage given that it followed the repetitious setting of the source in general. The enjoyment factor may depend on your tastes in this kind of genre, but I feel that this will get really old after a while.

Production

The samples chosen are very deep and fit well towards the general atmospheric focus behind the piece; while I feel some of the woodwind and brass type sounds could have been chosen firmer to provide some closer realism around them they have worked well to provide their role. The attention to the atmosphere has worked well with the reverb and some steady mid-range EQs to steadily provide a fair amount of space work around it. There didn't seem to be many recorded elements down the line, but the rain effects - if they were recorded audio to begin with - have worked in maintaining the moods at a firm focus. There didn't seem to be too much clipping at all, and given what has been provided this is shown to be pretty well rounded for an arrangement of this caliber. And the panning has also been well realized for a creation like this - a good amount of space granted to most of the instruments in providing a flexible setting all around. I found this to be a much better aspect of the mix than the creativity, so for that I pass my regards towards Salivator for what he has done.

?Judge?

Remix

Good ambiance, but a bit stifled in terms of variation.

Creativity

Simply an orchestration of the original, does little to expand existing theme.

Production

Decent balance, could have used a fuller ensemble in the louder sections; no noticable flaws in production.

Remix

Definitely, from the start, you can feel the original piece. But, as often happens, little occurs to deviate from the main theme. There are small bits, but more is needed to allow this piece to exist as its own entity.

Creativity

Directly relating to my issues from above, I don't feel much creativity in this mix. I like how you gave it a very outdoors feel, and the raindrops are very nice, as I state below. Its an enjoyable listen, but its lacking that spark to make it really have a lasting impression on the listener.

Production

Good balance and mixing. I really like the rain effect you have going on at all times, and how the music come up above it, and then fades below it. Samples are so-so, would have liked to hear a better flute and string sound.
