Most Anticipated RPGs

by Alex Fuller

As with last year, 2017 looks to be another bumper year in terms of the number of RPG releases. So instead of trying to unfairly cut our list of most anticipated games to a top three in RPGamer's regular Game of the Year awards, we are spending some extra time to help highlight some of the RPG treats that we have to look forward to. Our staff members were consulted about how excited they are about the large number of already-confirmed games coming up, and using their input we have determined the top twenty games that we are most looking forward to playing.

There are a few rules that readers should be aware of before complaining about why certain games aren't included in this top twenty list, though we are under no allusions that we will still be missing games that many are excited for. Firstly, a priority has been placed on games that are expected in 2017, so some games that are almost guaranteed to slip or have already been pushed to 2018 will likely instead be found in our Honourable Mentions category. Secondly, we are only counting those games confirmed for western release as of the start of December, so games that are still Japan-only are not included (as well as Valkyria Revolution, Dragon Quest Heores II, and Toukiden 2). Enjoy reading our thoughts, and please come and respectfully criticise our selections and let us know the games you're most looking forward to on the forums.
