Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is without a doubt a staff favorite. After playing this, many staff members were saddened to learn that North America never received the first game in the Slime MoriMori series that was released on the Game Boy Advance. Thankfully, Rocket Slime makes it hard to be sad, as almost every aspect of the game is designed to put a smile on your face. The story might be non-existent, but Rocket and his companions were designed to be charming, not to weave a narrative epic and in that they succeed.

Rocket Slime is a two-part game. It features an exploration mode where Rocket jumps, floats, and bounces around to gather items for the second part of the game, the tank battles. Tank battles are very addictive and each come with a different pun-filled theme. It rarely gets old cramming tons of items into the tank cannon to destroy your opponent. Or if you want to change things up, Rocket can sneak in and smash the inside of the enemy's tank. It's a simple concept, but it's addictive and fun. While we missed the first game on the Game Boy Advance, let's hope enough people liked Rocket Slime to where we get the pirate-themed sequel on the 3DS. Until then, we'll go replay Rocket Slime to be reminded of why we enjoy it so much.
