  Submitting a Review

Thank you for considering writing a review for us. Though we have several staff members that work hard to review as many games as possible, readers are more than welcome to share their opinions in the form of reviews as well. Not only will this allow you to share your opinion and get your work online, it will also help make our review archives better. This page will point out several useful resources designed to help out new reviewers. I hope you find it useful. If you have any suggestions for this page, please email them to us.

The first thing you'll want to do is look over our submission guide which outlines the basic procedures and guidelines for writing reviews.

If you have any questions, you'll most likely find the answer in our FAQs section. This set of FAQs contains a lot of useful information, so it might not be a bad idea to check it out anyway. If you have a question that wasn't answered here, feel free to email us.

You're probably already familiar with our scoring system by now, but it's probably a good idea to at least skim our scoring definitions one last time before writing a review yourself. If anything, keep in mind that a three is average.

Having trouble deciding which game to review? Try scanning the reviewless games page. If you see a game on there that you've beaten, it would really help us if you could review it. Selecting a game with fewer reviews will give you a better chance of being accepted if you're borderline.

Another page that might help you make your decision is our challenges page. If we have any contests or challenges going on at the minute, they'll be listed there. Might as well try to win a prize or two while you're at it, right?

Though email usually works just fine, the fastest way to contact us in through the IRC. Our IRC guide will show you how to connect to our server and join #reviewhaven, the official channel of Points of View. There's a good chance that we might be busy working on something else when you pop in, so we might not notice you at first. Feel free to send us a private message if this is the case and we'll get back to you asap.

Here is a useful editorial written a while back by Michael 'CactuarJoe' Beckett, one of our staff reviewers. It's a bit out of date, but much of it still applies to our current template.

Speaking of templates, I have a very handy tutorial to help you out with our HTML template.

Well, that pretty much covers everything. I hope you found it informative. All that remains is to grab either the Text Template or the HTML Template and write your review. When you finish, make sure to proofread it, then click the link below.
