Bandai Namco revealed some new details and a large batch of new screenshots for the upcoming Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. The first of the details concerns the game's Kirito Mode. Unlike the previous games, players in Fatal Bullet will create their own character for the main campaign rather than control series protagonist Kirito. However, the game will include a mode where players again play as him as he competes in the Bullet of Bullets tournament and comes up against the antagonist Death Gun.
On top of this, the publisher revealed that the game will include three major original characters named Kureha, Zeliska, and Itsuki. The game will also include Asuna’s Clothes Quest, where players collect recipes and materials before handing them over to Asuna, who will make new costumes not otherwise available.
Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is being created by DIMPS, a different studio than those who made prior games in the series, and focuses on third-person shooting as opposed to the melee combat of previous titles. The game is planned for release in Japan on February 8, 2018, and in North America and Europe on February 23, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
