The Caligula Effect

FuRyu announced that is will be releasing a remake of The Caligula Effect (known simply as Caligula in Japan) for PlayStation 4. The game, titled Caligula Overdose, will be released on May 17, 2018, and uses Unreal Engine 4. In addition to the remake, there will be an animated adaptation set to air in Japan in 2018.

Included among the improvements for the PlayStation 4 version are a redone UI, upgraded visuals, and substantional amounts of new content. A "Forbidden Musician" route doubles the length of the game's scenario, and there will also be multiple endings, new Go-Home Club members, new musicians, new songs, and a selectable female protagonist.

The Caligula Effect was released for PlayStation Vita in Japan by FuRyu in 2016 and in North America and Europe by Atlus USA earlier this year. The game is set in the virtual world of Mobius, where its inhabitants are trapped by an AI/vocal program named μ. Players join the Go-Home Club, a group of people looking to escape and return to the real world. Those interested can check out RPGamer's review of the PlayStation Vita release.
