Trails of Cold Steel III

Japanese developer and publisher Nihon Falcom held its general shareholder meeting today, using the opportunity to provide updates on its next releases in the Ys and The Legend of Heroes series. First up was the reveal of the PlayStation 4 release date in Japan for Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, which will be on May 25, 2017.

Ys VIII was originally released for PlayStation Vita in Japan in July 2016. In addition to various graphical upgrades, highlighted in a selection of new screenshots, the PlayStation 4 version will also feature new actions and improved controls. The console version also adds in extra content, including battles where Adol and the other castaways raid an enemy base, as well as a new scenario detailing Dana's past.

The company also provided news on The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki III (Trails of Cold Steel III), the third part in the Trails of Cold Steel sub-trilogy and the seventh game in the overall Zemuria series that also includes the Trails in the Sky trilogy as well as Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki). The game is now confirmed to be exclusively for PlayStation 4, with a planned release in Japan of fall 2017.

Trails of Cold Steel III is set in the year 1206 of the Septian Calendar, a year after the events of Trails of Cold Steel II, and again centres around Rean Schwarzer and his allies. The first screenshots were also released, showing various characters in the game.
