Developer Neocore Games today released the third part in its "Inquisitorial Log" series of videos for its upcoming action RPG Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr. This particular video focuses on the open world and sandbox aspects of the game.

Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr takes place in the Caligari sector, a region on the fringes of Imperium space. Made up of various subsectors, the Caligari sector is home to various heretical ideas and zealots, as well as warp storms that can cut off systems from the rest of the galaxy. The game starts in one of these subsectors, which are made up of multiple star systems. As players progress and advance the overall storyline, they unlock more subsectors.

Players will be able to select various mission types across the sector and be able to influence it. The game uses some random-generation aspects, primarily in providing mission objectives for the standalone missions. Certain missions will provide clues leading to new assignments. Special scripted missions are also included, providing their own clues that lead to an extended Grand Investigation storyline. These are in addition to the full story campaign that takes place in an abandoned fortress monastery. Neocore Games plans to support the game after it launches by releasing free seasonal content patches sharing a central theme. These seasonal storylines will be resolved depending on how players decide certain matters.

A licenced Warhammer 40,000 title, Inquisitor – Martyr is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game is planned for release sometime in 2017, with its PC release coming first. Those wanting to read more about the game can check out Zack Webster's impression from this year's E3.
