Square Enix has released media for the upcoming Dragon Quest Builders featuring the first area of the game players will visit. Named Merkid, the location hosts characters, secrets, and opportunities to rebuild.

At Merkid, players will run into Rolondo and Prinn, who will save the game and offer quests, respectively. Other characters that can inhabit the town will require clearing out monster dungeons to rescue them. Rescuing townsfolk will be essential to rebuilding the town, which will open up new buildings and options in the area.

Dragon Quest Builders is a block-based RPG spinoff of the long-running series. It arrives in Japan on January 28, 2016 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. There has been no announcement of a release in the West.
