After a very long wait for some fans, the original Mass Effect will be arriving on the PlayStation Network this week, and thus will be available on the PS3 for the first time. This will coincide with the arrival of the Mass Effect Trilogy, which will be released in North America today, December 4, and in Europe and Australia over the next few days.

While the later entries in the Mass Effect series were released on the PS3 quite some time ago, the first game in the trilogy never came to the platform until now because it was originally published by Microsoft Game Studios. PS3 owners who were introduced to the game with Mass Effect 2 will now get a chance to see for themselves how Shepard's battle against the Reapers began.
