BioWare has annouced that Star Wars: The Old Republic will convert to the previously annouced free-to-play model this Thursday. Players with accounts from before the free-to-play update have already been granted a number of Cartel Coins, which can be used to purchase items and services from the Cartel Market.

Players who continue to pay a monthly subscription will be granted Premium status and recieve a monthly stipend of 500 Cartel Coins.
