Kingdom Hearts Dream Distance to Drop in 2012

Kingdom Hearts 3D

Square Enix has announced that Kingdom Hearts 3D: [Dream Drop Distance] will be releasing in North America and Europe in 2012, exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS. The game is said to feature an expansive 3D universe and gameplay elements designed specifically for the 3DS.

Players will be able to take on the roles of both Sora and Riku in new Disney environments such as La Cité des Cloches from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. They will also be able to recruit new creatures called Dreameaters to help them throughout the adventure.

Tetsuya Nomura, director of Kingdom Hearts 3D states that with the tenth anniversary of the series on the horizon, the Kingdom Hearts saga is approaching its climactic conclusion. Dream Drop Distance will serve as the opening chapter of the final conflict, and will be full of surprises. Nomura further states that in order for these elements to be fully realized. Nomura hopes that this particular entry will provide a bold new tale that will keep fans wanting more from the Kingdom Hearts franchise.
