Legacy of Ys: Books I & II

Ys: Book I & II was a compilation of the first two Ys games and was originally released in North America in 1990 for the TurboGrafx CD-ROM. This game was released for the Nintendo Virtual Console on August 25, 2008. Both Ys I and Ys II were remade and released separately in Japan in early 2008 for the Nintendo DS.

Just over a month ago, it was revealed that Atlus would be publishing Legacy of Ys: Books I & II in North America. This release will have both of the Japanese Nintendo DS Ys remakes together in one bundle. These titles added multiple features to the original games, such as touch screen support and multiplayer. As a bonus, Atlus divulged that Legacy of Ys: Books I & II will also feature a brand new localization for its North American release, which will differ from the TurboGrafx CD-ROM and Virtual Console versions. Sam Mullen, project lead for Legacy of Ys: Books I & II, said that the team thought this was a special opportunity to give the game a 21st century localization along with the features included in the remakes. He does specify that the team is not taking the opportunity lightly, as the Ys games are important to the RPGamer community. RPGamers can experience the new features and localization of Legacy of Ys: Books I & II on February 10, 2008.
