Hellgate: London launched in October 2007 with a rough start. Riddled with serious bugs, and falling well short of the expectations of both fans and critics, the game failed to draw substantial sales or a following.

As a result, Namco Bandai will shut down Hellgate: London's online services next year. Namco Bandai maintained servers after the developer, Flagship Studios, collapsed last July. Namco Bandai will continue to keep the service free until then.
