Mistwalker, along with publisher AQ Interactive, has announced its next two RPG projects now that Archaic Sealed Heat is being released this week and Lost Odyssey is due out in a mere two months. Both projects are slated for the Nintendo DS.
The first new game is called Away: The Kidnapped People. Hironobu Sakaguchi is handling the game's scenario, while Nobuo Uematsu will serve as composer. The character designs are being done by Naoto Oshima, who did design work for Phantasy Star I and Phantasy Star II, though he's most famous for being the creator of Sonic the Hedgehog, Blinx, and the character NiGHTS from NiGHTS into Dreams. The development of the title will be handled by Blue Dragon developer Artoon. Away is scheduled for a Japanese release on January 31, 2008.
The second new Mistwalker project is Blue Dragon DS. It's unclear how exactly the game will tie into Blue Dragon for the Xbox 360, whether a sequel, prequel, or remake; it's only been revealed that it will fall within the same series and will be an RPG. Blue Dragon DS is being developed by Feel Plus, the team that's also been busy handling Lost Odyssey. It's set for release in March 2008.
Both games will be published by AQ Interactive, the company established by former Sega president Hayao Nakayama. This isn't a huge surprise, as AQ Interactive owns Artoon, Feel Plus, and Cavia, the studio developing Mistwalker's last announced game Cry On (which AQ is also publishing).
