Namco has updated its Japanese website, and it looks like the company is giving with one hand while taking away with the other. In the giving department, the company has added Tales DS, which is the game's working title, to its list of upcoming games.
Tales DS will be the first title in the series to appear on the Nintendo DS handheld system following several Game Boy Advance entries including Tales of Phantasia and Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage, neither of which were localized for North America. Currently no information on Tales DS is known aside from the title's platform.
Unfortunately for RPG hungry DS owners, this addition also comes with a removal, as Baten Kaitos DS, which would have been the second entry in the Baten Kaitos series, has been removed from the listing of upcoming games. Baten Kaitos DS was announced back in December alongside Xenosaga DS, which has since been revealed as Xenosaga I & II. New information on Baten Kaitos, however, never came to light.
While the game's removal from Namco's website is not a solid confirmation that the game has been canceled, it certainly isn't a very promising sign for Baten Kaitos DS.
