Final Fantasy X-2 Details Get Squared Away

More information regarding the class and battle systems of Final Fantasy X-2, Square's upcoming PlayStation 2 title, has been revealed.

There are six confirmed classes in FFX-2 - White Knight, Black Knight, Fencer, Gunner, Thief, and Dancer. At the beginning of the game, Yuna is a Gunner, Paine is a Fencer, and Rikku is a Thief. The Gunner class will allow the player to press the R1 button to unleash a powerful chain attack on unfortunate foes, while the Thief class allows the player to steal increments of money, MP, or even time.

In addition to the various alterations of the classic Active Time Battle System, enemies and characters alike will change positions on the battlefield instead of leaping out to attack then returning to their spots, as seen in previous installments of the series. This movement on the battlefield will allow characters to communicate with each other as well as their enemies.

Fans of Final Fantasy X will be pleased to know that Lulu, Wakka, and Kimahri will be returning in FFX-2, and even Tidus will make an appearance. It is not known whether he will actually be with Yuna or if she will merely dream about him. Furthermore, Bahamut has been spotted blasting his enemies with his famous Megaflare attack in the game.

Final Fantasy X-2 is destined to hit Japanese store shelves on March 13, 2003. North Americans, however, must remember that good things come to those who wait.
