North American PSO Episodes 1 & 2 To Lack Keyboard Support?

Electronics Boutique and other retailers are reporting that currently, Sega has not included a keyboard in its listing of peripherals to be associated with the upcoming GameCube release of Phantasy Star Online. The developer has confirmed that PSO Episodes 1 & 2 will support the use of the Game Boy Advance, modem, and broadband adaptor in a press release, but there was no mention made of any sort of keyboard.

Whether this actually means Nintendo will not have such a seemingly crucial means of communication for the game ready by the time of its release is of course not certain; it is entirely possible that by then, there will be such a peripheral available. At this time, however, it looks as though talking in-game will take a mighty long time, an example Nintendo will be unable to follow if it intends to release a keyboard; currently, the GameCube PSO Episodes 1 & 2 is set for North American release by the end of the year, with service packages going on sale October 29. Update:After contacting Sega, RPGamer has received assurances that a keyboard will in fact be available by the time the game launches. This should come as a relief for gamers who had been preparing to import from Japan.
