IGDA Launches Student Scholarship Program

The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) will be giving 25 college students the chance to attend its upcoming 2002 Game Developers Conference. The event, which will run March 19-23, 2002, is being held in San Jose, California, and students who earn the scholarships will be given a free pass, as well as breakfast and lunch on show days. The contest is only open to Student Members of the IGDA, but it is possible to sign up at the company's website, which also has a wide variety of information on the event and the scholarship contest.

This will be the second year running that the association has given out free passes to attend its event, which is hailed as one of the biggest meetings of big names in software development each year. While it may lack the hype of E3, the show arguably possesses much more substance, with speeches, conferences, and expositions geared towards sharing groundbreraking ideas in software development.

To enter the contest, applicants must provide some personal information, as well as completing five essay questions. The contest will close Monday, January 7th, 2002.
