After months of anticipation, Enix America has officially announced that Dragon Warrior III will be heading over to North America sometime next year. As previously reported, this decision was based upon the sales statistics of the title's recent Japan release, which have apparently deemed it worthy of being ported over.

Dragon Warrior III is based on Enix's classic Nintendo RPG, originally released in 1988. The game was a great success, selling more than 3.8 million units (as a comparison, this is twice the sales of Final Fantasy II, released the same year, which sold 1.44 million units). Dragon Warrior III precedes the first in the series, detailing the adventures of a sixteen-year old boy named Roto, who quests across the world to carry on the legacy of his father, the great hero Ortega. New additions to the GameBoy Color version of the game include a field log, which allows players to save at any point, a system to collect and trade monster medals, as well as improved graphics, text and animation quality.

In order to bring this epic adventure to North America with the quality it deserves, Enix America plans to utilize the talent of the individuals responsible for localizing Dragon Warrior I & II earlier this year.
