Dragonriders Release Date Extended
Ubi Soft

The upcoming PC and Dreamcast RPG, Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern, has been slightly delayed. Oliver Sykes, the lead designer for the game, has revealed in a message on the Dragonflight message board that Ubi Soft are now planning a First Quarter 2001 release for the game. According to Mr. Sykes, the game has about one month of development remaining, after which the game will undergo a few months of testing so it will be accepted by Sega's quality control team. The PC version is expected to appear about a month before the Dreamcast version, for it does not need to go through Sega quality control.

Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern is a 3D RPG set in the Pern world from Anne McCaffrey's best-selling novels. The engine was created from scratch and features DirectX 7 technologies such as enhanced particle systems and hardware transform and lighting. The advanced artificial intelligence created for the game make the hundreds of non-player characters seem to come alive. Like many PC role playing games, the main characters' skills and social status changes as the game proceeds. Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern looks to be a game to keep an eye on, and RPGamer will bring coverage of the game as it appears.
