Final Fantasy Composer Speaks at Open Seminar

This past weekend at Tokyo's University of Electro-Communications, the Chofu-Sai festival took place. The campus festival began on Friday and ended yesterday (Sunday, Nov. 26). The festival drew patrons from all over Japan, in large part because of Sunday's premier event, an open music seminar with legendary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu as the key speaker. Premier Japanese gaming publication Famitsu attended the event and followed up with an informative report.

According to Famitsu's report, which you can read in its entirety here, the ninety-minute session with Mr. Uematsu went very well. Mr. Uematsu had some interesting stories to tell, some quite humorous as well. For example, it seems that had Mr. Uematsu not been eventually chosen to compose Final Fantasy's music, the job could very well have instead gone to a group called the "Southern All-Stars".

Thanks to Mr. Uematsu for appearing at this event, and subsequently for his commitment to the legions of Final Fantasy fans worldwide. Thanks also to Famitsu.com for providing an English version of this article.
