Nintendo's newest Game Boy Color accessory, the Game Boy Mobile Adapter, has had its Japanese release delayed about a month. Originally scheduled to be released in December 2000, the Game Boy Mobile Adapter should be released across Japan on January 27, 2001, with related services beginning around the same time. No reason was given for the delay.

The Game Boy Mobile Adapter will allow the Game Boy to interface with a cellular phone to allow network compatibility. The latest Pokémon game, Pokémon Crystal, will make use of the Mobile Adapter and is still scheduled to be released in Japan on December 14.
