Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet

Bandai Namco released some new details for the upcoming Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet, detailing the character creation options. Fatal Bullet marks the first Sword Art Online game in which players create their own avatar, though players could change protagonist Kirito's in-game appearance in the previous titles.

In addition to choosing their avatar's gender and appearance, players can assign points to a selection of attributes that will affect their combat style. Created avatars will be available to use in both single player and cooperative modes. In addition to some screenshots provided by Bandai Namco, Dengeki Online put up a new two-minute video showing the default male created character in action.

The publisher also revealed some details about the story, which sees player's character entering the fictional MMO Gun Gale Online. They are joined by original characters Kureha and Zeliskam, as well as the ArFA-Sys (Artificial Financial Adviser System) support AI that comes in various types. Various characters from the series join, including those who did not appear in the Gun Gale Online portion of the original light novel and anime series, such as Asuna, Leafa, Silica, and Lisbeth.

Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet is being created by DIMPS, a different studio than those who made prior games in the series, and focuses on third-person shooting as opposed to the melee combat of previous titles. The game is planned for release worldwide in early 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
