A PC release is not the only new version of Final Fantasy XV announced at Gamescom in Germany. Square Enix also revealed Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition for iOS, Android, and Windows 10. The Pocket Edition retells the story with a different grahpical style and new mobile-optimised controls.

Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition will see the game split into ten episodes, launched simultaneously with the first episode being available for free. It will be available at some point in fall 2017. Square Enix also released a Pocket Edition announcement trailer and a trailer giving an overview of the Fina Fantasy XV announcements and upcoming content updates including Comrades, Episode Prompto, and Episode Ignis expansions, free updates, and the Monster of the Deep VR fishing title.
