Indie Update: Thirteenth Edition
08.11.2017

ALEX FULLER
MANAGING EDITOR

Indie Games

We return with the thirteenth edition of our series designed to help RPGamer cater to the ever-increasing number of indie titles that our staff regrettably does not have the resources to provide full coverage to. The idea of this column is to quickly pass on the word about certain games to our readers that they might otherwise not be made aware of, and we hope both readers and developers find this useful.

This edition of our indie update column features the following titles: No Truce With The Furies, Phantom Trigger, All Walls Must Fall, West of Loathing, and Suplex Saga.

No Truce With The Furies

No Truce With The Furies is an isometric RPG being developed by ZA/UM and published by The Humble Bundle that looks to combine cop-show aspects in a sci-fi and fantasy setting. Players take on the role of a disgraced police lieutenant in the seaside town of Revachol. The player character has access to twenty-four skills, and all "combat" encounters are handled in dialogue. No Truce With The Furies features hand-painted backgrounds and the music score is being written by band British Sea Power. The game is being developed for PC with no known release date.

Phantom Trigger

Bread Team and tinyBuild have released Phantom Trigger for PC (via Steam) and Nintendo Switch. The game is a hack-and-slash title with RPG elements following white-collar worker Stan as he journeys through bizarre worlds following a mysterious event. It features a branching storyline with four different endings.

All Walls Must Fall

inbetweengames' All Walls Must Fall is now available through Steam Early Access. The Early Access version is available for $15.99/€14.99/£11.99 with a 10% launch discount on offer until August 15, 2017. Previously covered on RPGamer, All Walls Must Fall is a Kickstarter-funded tactical RPG set in Berlin in the year 2089 of a world where the Cold War never ended and with access to time-manipulation technology. The developer expects to spend six to twelve months in Early Access before releasing the full game.

West of Loathing

Asymmetric Publications, creator of browser-based multiplayer RPG Kingdom of Loathing, released West of Loathing, a single-player comedy RPG set in Kingdom of Loathing's wild west. Like its parent title, the game features stick-figure, black-and-white graphics, and uses a turn-based combat system. West of Loathing is available for PC, Mac, and Linux via Steam for $10.99/€10.99/£7.99, with a 10% launch discount available until August 17, 2017.

Suplex Saga

Suplex Saga is a retro wrestling-themed RPG from Finger Gun Games currently undergoing a Kickstarter campaign. The game follows Ace Evander, a rising indie wrestling star whose hometown promotion is destroyed by the Universal Wrestling Corporation. Combat requires that players make each fight as entertaining as possible; the more the crowd is entertained, the more bonuses players will receive, such as damage boosts or items. The Kickstarter campaign runs until September 3, 2017, with the developer looking for $60,000 in funding for the PC game, with console releases also a possibility.
