XSEED Games has released the PC version of Nihon Falcom's The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel. The game is available now through Steam, GOG.com, and The Humble Store for $39.99/€39.99/£29.99 with a 10% launch discount for the first week on sale. A variety of DLC packs offering bonuses such as items, money, and accessories will also be available for free for the first two weeks.
Originally released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita, Trails of Cold Steel is set a couple of years after the events of Trails in the Sky. It takes place in a different nation in that world, however, and does not require players to have played previous entries to follow the story, though there are direct ties between the games. The PC version of Trails of Cold Steel will include over 5,000 newly-voiced lines of previously silent dialogue as well as various graphical enhancements, a button-activated turbo mode that speeds the game up, and other options further detailed on XSEED's blog. Its direct sequel, Trails of Cold Steel II, is also set for release on PC at a later date.
