Final Fantasy XV

Square Enix held a panel at last weekend's PAX West event in Seattle, during which it focused on the upcoming release on Final Fantasy XV. The presentation starts at around the twenty-one-minute mark on the video below.

The early parts of the presentation focused on Balouve Mines, a sidequest dungeon containing goblins. These goblins will happily steal potions from the party and make use of them if allowed. Also showcased in the presentation was the game's magic crafting system. This lets players combine elemental magic and items for more powerful spells that may provide other bonuses such as healing the caster. After this, the developers showed some chocobo racing and a battle against magitek armor in a Niflheim base.

In other news, more details about the structure of the game came out from interviews with director Hajime Tabata. Final Fantasy XV will have an open structure for the first section before becoming more linear and focused in the second, with the expected split between the sections taking place at some point towards the end. It was also noted that the overall story for the game will take place over a ten-year time period.

After its latest delay, Final Fantasy XV is due out worldwide on November 29, 2016. The game will be released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The game is accompanied by various multimedia releases including a feature film, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, which RPGamers can read more about here.
