Square Enix has announced that it plans to release the PlatinumGames-developed NieR: Automata on PC via Steam. The game, previously only announced for PlayStation 4, is still planned to release in early 2017.

The game follows humanity as it forced to the moon after an invasion from extra-terrestrials. Android soldiers are built to combat the machine weapons of the extra-terrestrials. This includes the YoRHa squad, a newly-developed group of androids consisting of the game's protagonists: 2B, 9S and A2. Their fight will be to remove the machine presence once and for all and possibly learn the truth of the machines themselves.
